Joining In – Network Back At FIT

The Joinery Network will return to FIT Show 2027 to help installers understand the opportunities, requirements and practical realities of working with timber.

The Joinery Network is a co-operative of specialist companies supporting businesses that manufacture or install timber windows and doors. Through its Lignum system and wider network of partners, it provides access to certified products, testing, hardware, tooling, software, training, technical advice and business support.

The Network’s Lignum system provides joinery manufacturers with access to fully tested timber windows and doors designed to help them meet relevant Building Regulation requirements, including PAS 24 and Document Q. Its wider aim is to strengthen UK joinery manufacturing and help more businesses grow confidently in the timber market.

More timber

The Joinery Network’s return will support FIT Show’s expanding focus on timber and provide a platform for its members, partners and affiliates to connect directly with installers and other businesses looking to develop their timber offering.

Timber accounted for more than 9% of all material interests recorded by FIT Show visitors in 2025, while timber systems represented more than 16% of systems-related interest. The event also attracted 559 joiners, nearly 2,000 fabricators and more than 2,500 installers, highlighting the relevance of the audience for timber businesses.

Wanting to work with timber

“We are speaking to more and more installers who want to work with timber,” said Andy Ball, who was instrumental as a founder of The Joinery Network. “Timber is one of the fastest-growing areas of interest in the sector, yet there can still be uncertainty around the products, the process and the level of expertise required.

“Our role is to make that journey clearer. Visitors should be able to come to FIT Show and see what is available, understand the difference between off-the-shelf and bespoke joinery and learn what is needed to deliver a successful installation.”

Demo zone

The Joinery Network will deliver practical demonstrations through the FIT Show Demo Zone, which will include a start-to-finish timber installation journey. This is likely to cover product selection, ordering, design, manufacture, coatings, glazing, installation and aftercare, while also showing where timber solutions may be appropriate for different project types.

Andy Ball added: “Businesses are facing substantial costs and increasingly complex requirements. We have invested heavily in testing and compliance because we want to help our members and partners understand what is required and make sure they are properly prepared for what is coming next.

“There are still companies across the sector that do not fully understand their obligations. That is not unusual, but it does create risk. Installers need to know that the products they are buying are properly tested, correctly documented and suitable for the application.”
