Trade Wars – What’s The Best Trade To Work In?

Trade Wars – What’s The Best Trade To Work In?

What’s the best trade on site? It’s a question and argument that has raged for generations. Now there will be a battle to answer it once and for all…you can get involved.

…Well at least for a little while as the national radio station for tradespeople, Fix Radio, plans to put it to its listeners with The Great British Trade Off, a nationwide competition to decide who takes the title.

The competition began on Friday 2 October and runs to Friday 9 October as listeners are invited to nominate their trade and explain why it deserves to be considered top dog.

They will also be able to put forward well-known figures from their industry to become Trade Captains, representing their profession throughout the tournament.

Nominate by Friday

Nominations close at 5:00pm on Friday 9 October, before the official shortlist is revealed by Brad and Sam on The Bald Builders Breakfast from 8:00am on Monday 12 October.

Public voting will then open, with Trade Captains appearing across Fix Radio throughout the week to make the case for their profession, rally listeners and take on rivals on air.

Voted off

From Monday 19 October, the competition gets ruthless. The lowest-ranked entries will begin to be eliminated, with the results playing out across The Bald Builders Breakfast and The Clive Holland Show until only three are left standing.

The final three trades will go head to head on The Bald Builders Breakfast on Friday 23 October, when the winner will finally be revealed.

A week later, on Friday 30 October, Fix Radio will bring supporters of the victorious profession together for a celebration. Fix Radio says it will be inspired by the scenes normally reserved for Premier League champions.

Masters of their trade

Clive Holland, lead presenter at Fix Radio, said: “There’s an age-old argument on building sites across the country about which trade is best. We’re giving our listeners the chance to settle it. Behind the banter, people spend years mastering their trade without always getting the recognition they deserve.

“Fix is built around that community, so this is about celebrating the people doing the work and letting them decide who deserves the bragging rights. We’ll give the winners a proper celebration, although I suspect the arguments on site will carry on long afterwards.”
